Alastair’s career spans 30 years in the financial services sector across insurance, funds management, financial markets and institutional banking.

Alastair served as General Manager, Financial Institutions Industry Group at CBA, a role spanning banks, insurers, funds management and other diversified non-bank financial organisations, including mortgage originators. In this role, he managed a global team of 70 staff spread across Australia, New Zealand, Asia, the US and Europe.

Alastair was integrally involved in CBA’s exposure to the Reverse Mortgage sector supporting Seniors Finance – the largest non-bank business with exposure in Australia, New Zealand, Ireland, Canada and Spain. In 2007 Alastair headed Project Liberty, reporting directly to CBA EXCO, to investigate the Home Equity Release market and opportunities for the Bank. This included debt and non-debt based solutions for releasing equity from the family home to boost retirement lifestyle.

After leaving CBA in 2013, Alastair worked as Chief Manager Investor Capital for Homesafe Solutions, an equity-release business part-owned by Bendigo Bank.
